Dined at Shinme in December, visiting from New York, this was one of the best Izakaya experiences of my trip having spent 2 weeks traveling around Japan. The quality was exceptional. The space is classic, no frills, its not about the decor, its about the food. The service was very pleasant, I was by myself and do not speak Japanese, when I asked for recommendations the server and owner helped me decide and they did not do me wrong. The ume shiso rice was delicious! I enjoyed the lemon sour! I would have stayed and kept on eating, but I had another Dinner to attend after. Hope to visit you next time I am in Kyoto!!
